Dreamy wedding days are my favorite days. The soft touches of romance and emotion cloak the day in the best version of joy and celebration. After all, it’s one of the simple pleasures in life. Celebrating love together is such a human experience and I am always honored to be there to capture it. (No matter the challenges!) This elegant winter wedding wasn’t without its challenges, but the outcome was worth it!
There were so many aspects of his lovely elegant winter wedding day that I loved.
It should come as no surprise that at the top of my list was their emotional first touch. Tears flowed while they read the love letters they had written to each other. I cannot stress enough how much I love the option of a first touch for those that don’t want to see each other before the ceremony. The moment had all the same emotions as a first look and had every single person in the room crying.
It was so beautiful and it connected them and set the intention for the day.
That being said, the day wasn’t without its adversities. You see, this wedding was a bit of a challenge for me because the sunset was at 4:00 in the afternoon and the ceremony was scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
Since this lovely couple didn’t see each other beforehand I had to get creative with nighttime shots for them. And honestly? I’m really happy for the challenge.
But since the creative team was nothing short of INCREDIBLE we had a plan in place to accommodate the lack of time. We got to hang back and do our jobs while not having to manage the coordination or other logistic elements.
Thanks to this there was a big gap of time between the ceremony and reception. Which gave us lots of time to get the photos we needed. (And for them all to relax.) One of the greatest moments was when they took a trolly around and blasted their favorite music while spending time together. Because good music makes everything better!
Including their intimate reception.
They had a very talented live band who were experts at getting everyone on the dance floor. Especially when they all sang the PBR song at the reception. It was a wedding day highlight for sure!
And their send off was epic too.
Cold fireworks! And it was SO beautiful! It was a unique and dramatic option instead of fireworks or sparklers. After that they went off to their Hawaiian honeymoon to escape the cold weather.
